Description

This document contains 100k dimuon events selected from the Mu dataset from Run2010B. Each line corresponds to an event. The main file contains all 100k events. Files with an underscore contain 10k events each.

These data were selected from the Mu primary dataset. The selection criteria may be different from that used in CMS physics results. They are not suitable for a full physics analysis.

Dataset semantics

Variable Type Description
Run The run number of the event.
Event The event number.
E The total energy of the muon GeV).
px,py,pz The components of the momemtum of the muon (GeV).
pt The transverse momentum of the muon (GeV).
eta The pseudorapidity of the muon.
phi The phi angle of the muon (rad).
Q The charge of the muon.
M The invariant mass of two muons (GeV).

How were these data selected?

The events in this derived dataset were selected because of the presence of precisely two muons with invariant mass between 2-110 GeV, one of which is a high-quality "global" muon. More information on the selections applied for the Mu primary dataset can be found there.
